Once again, welcome to Guppy Labs e-Bulletin!
As our mission states, our aim is to provide a web-based
space to share up-to-date information. The internet
makes our mission plausible, and guppy enthusiasts deserve
it! This site will always be available in a public forum,
free of charge and without the need to register for
access or open your wallet.
We worked especially hard to make this Anniversary Issue something unique and special. IT IS OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY!!
The first slice of our anniversary cake goes to
Tomoko Young, who as a member of our group of regular
writers was absolutely indispensable in conducting multiple
insightful interviews with Japanese breeders. Tomoko
is your window to the fascinating Japanese guppy scene.
We are fully aware and witnesses of how much effort
she put into this birthday issue. She was also instrumental
is obtaining an interview with Mr. shubel. If you need
a vacation after this Tomoko, you have earned it.
If you notice, our web design has improved tremendously,
thanks to Anthony Patiño of patino-burch-design,
who was kind enough to give us this great anniversary
present. Thank you very much Tony. The second slice
of our anniversary cake goes to you!
As for the content of this issue, we are especially
proud to offer exclusive interviews with some of the
most respected figures in the international guppy scene.
We would like to do this on a regular basis, including
with European and other Asian breeders, researchers
and farmers, and anyone interested in this great fish
species.
We want to express our gratitude to Mr. Stan Shubel, also Mr. Yoshiki Tsutsui, Mr. Noboru Iwasaki, and Mr. Gen Hideshima for granting us such valuable interviews for this first anniversary issue. A few interviews of other breeders, farmers, industry leaders and researchers were not completed in time for the release of this issue. These will be published in later issues. STAY TUNED FOR MORE GREAT INTERVIEWS!!!
Our hope is that you will take these interviews for
what they are: A view point from some very experienced
breeders and influential individuals. The risk is that
the reader will compare view points and make unwarranted
judgment. Instead, we encourage you to take this great
opportunity to learn something from a unique
point of view, from "guppy-thinkers" that
have so much to offer and so much to teach us, regardless
of how much we already know. Remember the saying that
goes something like... "the more we know, the more
we know how little we know"?
We are also very fortunate to include such great exclusive
articles from our regular writers. Each of these writers,
as do all people that participate in this effort, owns
part of this bulletin.
Chris Ng is a regular writer here, and his articles are very illustrative and informative. Chris is your window into the evermore-important Singapore guppy scene. Expect more great articles and interviews from Chris in following issues. Rosario Arijón is well known and well published, in South America and in the world. Rosario is not only a knowledgeable and experienced breeder, but an important thinker of these times. Her articles in this bulletin are truly important chronicles about guppy breeding in Uruguay and its neighboring countries. Luke Roebuck is from Trinidad, but has "adapted", like a good guppy, to the environment in the USA. Luke has the largest gene bank in North America, at least, and his experience as a seasoned breeder is priceless. He almost got us an article on time, but will have to publish it later. Look for articles from Luke in coming issues. Sergio Chaim is our librarian and together with Enrique Patiño, are our technical freaks! What started as an experiment in the kitchen, between two crazed Latin cooks, has become a well-balanced international meal.
All together, the articles published in this bulletin continue to provide us with interesting and informative, even personal windows into all aspects of guppy breeding. Our articles give us partial views inside many important regions of the world for the past, present and future of the hobby. With time, we may help paint the collective picture.
Our hope is that new writers and contributors keep
coming. We hope to continue to include articles from
Europe, Asia, South America, USA, Middle East, Africa,
and every corner of the world. After all, Guppy Labs
e-Bulletin is everyone's bulletin. Our hope is that
you will own it!
Included in this issue is also an article coming from
a new guest writer, Alan S. Bias, from Florence, Montana
USA. Alan has a long history with guppies and is very
interested in swordtail guppies. If you are interested
in sharing your experiences with the world, your Guppy
Labs e-Bulletin is one of a number of great places to
do it. This is a collective international effort folks.
It is the fruit of the labor and enthusiasm of the whole
group. All of us here do work for this publication out
of our love for the hobby and a desire to continuously
gain more knowledge about something we care deeply about.
That is our driving force.
Our guppy forum in English, which is now three months
old, is one of a number of good forums available
to have discussions about the care and breeding of guppies.
Take advantage of it. If you want to moderate
discussion about specific topics, let us know. What
we have here is a team effort, where mutual respect
and encouragement among willingly participating members
comes naturally. What we have achieved in this first
year exceeds our initial expectations. We are a growing,
happy family and circle of friends.
To our writers and contributors,
THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH!!!
DOMO ARIGATO!!!
MUITISSIMO OBRIGADO!!!
MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!
