Dear friend, First of all, I would like to thank GuppyLabs for giving me chance and wrote this column. Pornleart Yeunsangarmonkong is my name, but I prefer to call me Champ; that is my nickname.

I am studying at KMIT'L in The Department of Fisheries (KMIT'L is King Mongkut Institue of Technology Lardkrabang) which is famous institution in Thailand. I also write columns about fish in many magazines including this magazine.

Well, I will show you what you need to know about fish breeding at my farm. My farm is located in Lardkrabang area as same place that I study, I have around 20 branches in Thailand, and my farm is the center also. Before breeding fish, I always research all details, then work in developing the strain. For example, in breeding full black, full red and some new strain, in paying attention to detail, I will get a good fish as result. Moreover, I got a good feedback from EU and America after I send to customers. Besides, my friend and I try to add more some strong melanin in full red fish, then we preferred to get a good effect.

For genetics, Guppy is a sensitive fish which the breeder should understand well, and take care before breeding. If you make some mistake during breeding, choosing the wrong crosses, you will waste your time. Most of these fish which we consider failed, we still feed all of mistaking it. First time when I breeded Moscow I got problems, the serious problem is fading colors. So, we have to do out breed and develop a new strain by ordering fish from other country such as Japan or Brazil because we need to split the gene of fish. Which is the cause of underdeveloped of DNA including the changing of colors, slow growing, and is out of shape. We used to inbreed RED ALBINO for 5 times. The first time until the fifth, we got no problem on the other hand, we face the problem in the sixth time that is we got that most of fish is weak.

The way to breed is we should realize the genetic before breeding, furthermore, the first stage is choosing the best 5 fish. Considered the color and shape then, try to breed it after GONAD period. After that, we would be know which one is male or female by notice that the male will have gonopodium and female will noticed by the shape. Then, bring them to breed and find some changes of each other. Try to find the best treatment in each and breed it, then we will get a nice strain of fish. The important thing to know about breeding , if you need a robust fish is not to inbreed.
